WHAT IS CLUB VOLLEYBALL?

Club volleyball is a youth organization where players on teams of 8-13 train in local gyms and play in regional tournaments. Unlike other sports, volleyball only has a handful of organizations in the tri-state area. Players should choose a club based on level of training, cost, and proximity to where you live.

WHEN DOES CLUB RUN?

Long Island Surge runs from November until April. We practice at night, once or twice a week, after school sports end. We do not practice during school breaks.

HOW MUCH DOES CLUB COST

We try to keep our club as affordable as possible while keeping the level of training the highest possible. The cost for the 2023-2024 season is as follows:

For Premier Club: If you are offered a spot on the Premier Team (more tournaments), a deposit of $834 is due immediately. Two more installments of $833 and $833 will process on 11/1 and 1/1, respectively. 

For Girls local Travel teams (7th grade and younger):  If you are offered a spot the deposit of $700 is due immediately. Two more installments of $150 and $150 will process on 11/1 and 1/1, respectively.  There is a $25 late penalty per week for missed payments. 

For Girls local Travel teams (8th-12th grade): If you are offered a spot the deposit of $700 is due immediately. Two more installments of $400 and $400 will process on 11/1 and 1/1, respectively.  There is a $25 late penalty per week for missed payments. 

For Boys Travel Teams (all ages) If you are offered a spot the deposit of $700 is due immediately. Two more installments of $300 and $300 will process on 11/1 and 1/1, respectively.  There is a $25 late penalty per week for missed payments. 

All tuition includes a uniform jersey, backpack, T-shirt and all costs related to training and coaching. If you are on a Premier Team that travels, each individual family will be responsible for their own travel costs. 

WHO ARE THE CLUB COACHES?

We recruit the best coaches around for our club. We staff former collegiate athletes, high school coaches, and beach tournament champions. Our staff is energetic and knowledgeable, and our training is unrivaled in the area.

WHERE DO WE PLAY AND PRACTICE? 

We rent gym space from Long Island schools and organizations. Typically practices will be either at on of the schools in Oceanside, NY, St. Paul's Recreation Field House in Garden City or the LIU Post Pratt Center in Greenvale, NY. Teams typically practice twice a week between the end of November and April. We do not practice over school breaks.

WHERE ARE THE GAMES?

Our philosophy is to provide the best possible training while keeping costs reasonable. We will play a handful of tournaments throughout the season and try to keep tournaments as local as possible. However, some age groups are scarce in the region and Surge has traveled as far away as Washington DC. We typically play only single day tournaments, but two or even three day tournaments are possible, depending on the level of the team. Unlike other sports, we only play at tournaments, and there are no weekend game commitments other than that. 

WHO CAN PLAY?

Please see below to find your child's age group. Age groups are based on grade. Players are allowed to play up in older age groups, but may not play down in younger age groups. Please specify at registration if you wish to be considered for an older age group.

We need at least 8 players in an age group to run a team.
