Tryouts for Local Travel and Premier Club Teams 25-26 Season

Boys and Girls entering 5th-12th grade

LI Surge will be holding tryouts for the upcoming 25-26 Travel and Premier Club Season.

*These are tryouts for travel teams only! All other program information and schedules (Middle School Program, Waves, and Ripples Academy) will be announced after all Travel and Premier tryouts have been completed in the Fall.

NEW FOR 25-26!!! PLAYERS MUST ATTEND 2 TRYOUTS

In order to best evaluate, 2 tryouts are required for each player to attend. Each tryout session will be 1 hour and players must attend 2 sessions.

*Please note that the 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM time frame indicates the potential duration of the tryout sessions. Your player's specific time slot will be provided in the finalized schedule sent one week prior to the tryouts.

Tryout Fees:

Early Registration ( until Friday, 7/25/25 at 11:59pm) $80 plus processing fees

Late Registration (7/26/25 and on) $105 plus processing fees

Tryout fee includes both tryouts and a T-Shirt to be worn at both tryouts

Tryout fee is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to any program!

Additional Tryout Information :

Players will tryout and be placed on teams based on ability and position
One friend request allowed per player. Please do not email us asking for multiple friend requests.
Friend requests are typically only honored for lower-level teams.
Choosing to play with a less skilled friend means your child will not be considered for higher-ability teams.
For a friend request to be considered, that friend must also request to play with your child
Friend requests are requests only and do not guarantee placement on any team

Welcome to the 24-25 Club Season for Long Island Surge Volleyball Club! Thank you to all who attended the Parent Meeting on 7/31. Here is the video recording in case you missed it:

Tryouts and Practices

Tryouts:

Players will try out and be placed on teams based on ability and position
We typically can honor friend requests on LOWER ABILITY TEAMS ONLY. We cannot move players up to higher teams in order to play with friends
Friend requests are requests only and do not guarantee placement on any team

Practices:

We have two tentative locations for practices for the 24-25 Travel Season. Our practice locations are in Oceanside, NY and LIU Post Pratt Center for Recreation (Greenvale, NY)
Players may be offered teams that practice in either or both locations

All Travel teams will practice 2 times a week beginning mid November through April for 90 minutes a practice
Exact schedule for practices and location will be available after all tryouts end in Fall

NEW FOR 24-25!! Tuition now includes all membership fees required for participation in tournaments.

Age Groups

Please see below to find your child's age group. Age groups are loosely based on grade. Players are allowed to play up in older age groups, but may not play down in younger age groups. Please specify at registration if you wish to be considered for an older age group. All age groups have a July 1 cut off between levels (for example, a U13 team can be made of older 6th graders and younger 7th graders). It is not uncommon for a mix of school grades to be on one team.

Levels of Travel Club

Premier Travel Club (Girls Only): Highest level of commitment and most tournament play.

Ages: 8th-12th grade

Tournaments: 3 local, single-day tournaments; 2 out-of-state, overnight tournaments (or equivalent days of play)

Parents are responsible for all hotel costs and supervision of players at events
Most tournaments are "Stay-to-Play" (we do not get to choose the hotel)
Tournament schedule will be finalized in December. Past tournament locations have included Albany, Providence, Lancaster, Boston, and Atlantic City

*Tuition includes all tournament membership fees, 2 uniform jerseys, LI Surge T-shirt, and 1 backpack.

Local Travel Club (Girls): We will run multiple teams in each age group.

Ages: 5th-12th grade

Tournaments: 2 local, single-day tournaments; 1 out-of-state, overnight 3-day tournament (or equivalent days of play)

Parents are responsible for all hotel costs and supervision of players at events
Most tournaments are "Stay-to-Play" (we do not get to choose the hotel)
Tournament schedule will be finalized in December. Past tournament locations have included Albany, Providence, Lancaster, Boston, and Atlantic City

*Tuition includes all tournament membership fees, 2 uniform jerseys, LI Surge T-shirt, and 1 backpack.

Boys Travel Club: We typically run 1 or 2 teams in each age group. Boys teams are sometimes larger and will split squads for tournaments.

Ages: 6th-12th grade

Tournaments: 5 days of tournament play, with the potential of an overnight out-of-state tournament.

Parents are responsible for all hotel costs and supervision of players at events
Most tournaments are "Stay-to-Play" (we do not get to choose the hotel)
Tournament schedule will be finalized in December. Past tournament locations have included Albany, Providence, Lancaster, Boston, and Atlantic City
