LI Surge Volleyball  is holding Travel Club tryouts for the Spring 2026 season! This is an extension of the current 25-26 travel season.  

Tryout Information:

Tuesday, March 3, 2026

7:30pm-8:30pm (13s & 14s)

8:30pm-9:30pm (15s, 16s, & 18s)

Tryout Location: 

OCEANSIDE SCHOOL #6- Castleton Gym

Tryout Fee: $80 per player (plus processing fees)

Season Dates: April 13, 2026- May 28, 2026

Practices: 2x a week Monday-Friday 6:30pm-8pm or 8pm-9:30pm in one of our Oceanside gyms.

There are no additional practice locations besides Oceanside for Spring.

 Finalized practice schedules will be sent when the teams are formed.  We do not know what each team practice schedule will be until after tryouts.  

Tournament: 5/16/26 & 5/17/26  (State College, PA)

Spring 2026 Travel Club Tuition: $900 (plus processing fees)*

*Additional travel fees such as hotels, tournament parking, spectator tickets, are TBD.

Tryouts & Team Formation

• The initial tryouts were held on August 5th & 6th. 

• We do not have any additional tryouts scheduled beyond the dates listed. Please do not email with requests for specific tryout dates or times, as they cannot be honored.

• Teams are formed and bids are sent out within one week of tryouts.

• Players have 24 hours to accept a bid and submit a deposit. Unaccepted bids will be offered to another player.

• Makeup tryouts will be to fill spots as needed

Team Placement & Friend Requests

• The number of teams formed each season depends on factors like gym space and the number of players in each age group.

• Friend Request Policy:

• Only one friend request is allowed per player.

• Requests are typically only honored for lower-level teams.

• For a request to be considered, both players must list each other.

• Choosing to play with a less-skilled friend may impact a player's placement on a higher-ability team.

• Friend requests are not guaranteed and do not ensure team placement.

25-26 Season Information 

General Information

• We run multiple travel teams in each age group (see below for levels of travel club information)

• Premier teams (Girls 8th-12th only) are highly competitive and have more tournaments than Local Travel and Boys Travel teams

• Each team has 8-12 players

• Tentative locations for practices for the 25-26 Travel Season including Oceanside, Garden City, and Greenvale, NY.  

• Players may be offered teams that practice in any of the locations

• You will be given an option to indicate your preferred practice location, but no location is guaranteed 

• All Travel teams will practice 2 times a week (Monday-Friday) beginning mid November through April for 90 minutes a practice

• Practices typically are between the times of 6:30 pm-9:30 pm

• Exact schedule for practices and location will be available after all tryouts end in Fall. 

Tournament Information

• Tournament schedule will not be available until December.  We do our best to give a list of tentative tournament dates once the season starts, but will not know the exact tournament schedule until the end of the year. 

• Local (One-day) tournaments are typically on Long Island or nearby in the tri-state area.  

• Travel (overnight) tournaments can be either 2 or 3 days of game play.  

•  Parents are responsible for all hotel costs and supervision of players at events 

• Most tournaments are "Stay-to-Play" (we do not get to choose the hotel)

• Tournament schedule will be finalized in December. Past tournament locations have included Albany, Providence, Lancaster, Boston, and Atlantic City

Tuition Information

• Tuition for ALL travel teams  includes all tournament and membership fees, 2 uniform jerseys, LI Surge T-shirt, and 1 backpack.

• Monthly payment plan options are available

Premier Travel Club (Girls Only): Highest level of commitment and most tournament play.

Ages: 8th-12th grade

Tournaments: 3 local, single-day tournaments; 2 out-of-state, overnight tournaments (or equivalent days of play)

• Parents are responsible for all hotel costs and supervision of players at events 

• Most tournaments are "Stay-to-Play" (we do not get to choose the hotel)

• Tournament schedule will be finalized in December. Past tournament locations have included Albany, Providence, Lancaster, Boston, and Atlantic City

Tuition for Premier Teams: $2700* 

Tuition for 7th Grade and Younger Premier: $1900

*Tuition includes all tournament membership fees, 2 uniform jerseys, LI Surge T-shirt, and 1 backpack.

Local Travel Club (Girls): We will run multiple teams in each age group.

Ages: 5th-12th grade

Tournaments: 2 local, single-day tournaments; 1 out-of-state, overnight 3-day tournament (or equivalent days of play)

• Parents are responsible for all hotel costs and supervision of players at events 

• Most tournaments are "Stay-to-Play" (we do not get to choose the hotel)

• Tournament schedule will be finalized in December. Past tournament locations have included Albany, Providence, Lancaster, Boston, and Atlantic City

Tuition for Girls Local Travel Club: 

Girls 7th grade and younger (U13 and younger): $1300*

Girls 8th-12th grade: $2000*

*Tuition includes all tournament membership fees, 2 uniform jerseys, LI Surge T-shirt, and 1 backpack.

Boys Travel Club: We typically run 1 or 2 teams in each age group.  Boys teams are sometimes larger and will split squads for tournaments.

Ages: 6th-12th grade

Tournaments: 5 days of tournament play, with the potential of an overnight out-of-state tournament.

• Most tournaments are "Stay-to-Play" (we do not get to choose the hotel) 

• Tournament schedule will be finalized in December. Past tournament locations have included Albany, Providence, Lancaster, Boston, and Atlantic City

Tuition for Boys Teams: $1900*

*Tuition includes all tournament membership fees, 2 uniform jerseys, LI Surge T-shirt, and 1 backpack.

Please see below to find your child's age group. Age groups are loosely based on grade. Players are allowed to play up in older age groups, but may not play down in younger age groups. Please specify at registration if you wish to be considered for an older age group. All age groups have a July 1 cut off between levels (for example, a U13 team can be made of older 6th graders and younger 7th graders). It is not uncommon for a mix of school grades to be on one team.
